Most personally identifiable information the college maintains about a student is considered student education records. This includes the following (other than directory information, defined later):
- grades
- student's class schedule
- disability status
- academic standing
- Social Security Number
FERPA applies regardless of the format in which the information is stored. For instance, student education records may be included in:
- a paper document in the Enrollment Services office.
- a computer printout in your office
- a class list on your desktop
- a computer display screen
- an e-mail message
- written notes you have taken during an advising session
