Timeline FEBRUARY

Focus on planning your Valentine's Day of Action, collecting letters and debt checks, building awareness on campus, creating visuals.  Shift Lobby Day recruitment into high gear.

February 5-11

  • Create V-Day of Action materials and props
  • Fax 2nd V-Day of Action news advisory February 7th, and follow up with phone calls to ensure your media outlets have received it
  • Sign-up tablers for V-day of Action
  • Students turn in letters to the editor to campus and local papers

February 12-18

  • Lobby Day recruitment:  yeses = your goal x 1.5
  • V-Day of Action prep checklist:
  • Confirm volunteers for tabling hours
  • confirm logistics with scheduling
  • confirm props and materials
  • write news release for distribution to attending media at your event
  • prepare press packets that include: your news release, fact sheets, text of any speakers at the event, etc.

*February 14th:  Valentine's Day of Action on campuses

  • Make reminder calls to media at 8 a.m. (7 a.m. if you are in Portland)
  • Collect child care letters!!! Raise the collective consciousness!!
  • Recruit students to OSA Lobby Day!!
  • Use this event to create visuals targeting legislative candidates from your area to use at the OSA Lobby Day
  • Immediately following the event, send out your news release
  • Continue collecting letters through presentations to student orgs, classes, etc.

February 19-25

  • Lobby Day recruitment: yeses=your goal x 1.8
  • continue collecting letters
  • Meet with relevant student groups to brief them on the issue of the OUS and community college budgets and the OSA campaign

February 26-March 4

  • Complete candidate posters with messages from students
  • Lobby Day recruitment: yeses=your goal x 2

MARCH

Bring it home!!  All of our materials--OUS letters, community college postcards, child care letters and ONG debt checks--should be in the bag by this point.  The focus of this month is finishing the term with a ROAR on OSA Lobby Day and then passing finals!

March 5-11

  • March 7 - STATEWIDE LOBBY DAY

March 12-18

  • Sign up 2-4 students for OSA Spring Break Lobby Week
  • volunteer Appreciation Party!
  • Study for final exams

March 19-25

  • Send thank-you notes to coalition partners, allies and anyone else who contributed to your campaign
  • Confirm students for OSA Spring Break Lobby
  • Pass all of your finals!
