The scholarship grant, which will not be less than $500, will be paid by check to the school involved with instructions for disbursement and monitoring. In the event of failure, drop-out, or entrance into the military service by the student, any unused funds remaining in the custody of the school shall be returned to the respective Scholarship Fund.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DICK FRENCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ARE LISTED BELOW: a) Applicant is at least ¼ American Indian/Alaskan Native and/or is a recognized member of a federally recognized Tribe. b) Applicant is planning to be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited 4-year college/university or a full-time student at a 2-year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree. c) Applicant must demonstrate that they have met matriculation requirements of the school of their choice. d) Applicant is planning to major in an environmentally-related discipline: Biology, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry, Entomology, Environment Science, Hydrology, and related disciplines. e) Applicant’s residence is located within Oregon, Washington, or Idaho. f) Applicant must demonstrate current student membership in American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES).

APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS (APPLICATIONS WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.): a) School Transcript (most recent); b) A copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Loan (FAFSA) Confirmation Page for 2013-2014 showing the Estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) amount; c) A copy of the college/university proof of admittance along with estimated tuition and fees (most recent); and, d) Essay requirement. 2. Please attach an essay, telling a little about yourself, why you need this scholarship, how you plan to use the money, and what you plan to do when you finish your higher education. 3. Applications with the above information must be postmarked by April 30, 2013 or hand-delivered to a Committee member by May 2, 2013. 4. Applications must be typed or printed in ink. 5. It is in the applicant’s best interest to attach at least 1 letter of reference from a school official, member of a community organization, employer, or anyone else (other than a family member) who can illustrate the applicant's achievements, leadership, and abilities.
