By statute (ORS. 348.270) the amount of the annual grant at public 2- and 4-year colleges may not exceed the standard cost of tuition and fees levied by the institution they are attending. The amount of the annual grant at private four-year non-profit colleges may not exceed the cost of tuition and fees at the University of Oregon.
Description:
Applicants for awards must be dependents of a public safety officer in the state of Oregon, as defined by ORS 237.610, who was killed or isabled in the line of duty. Eligible dependents include the child or tepchild of eligible public safety officers.
Eligible public safety officers include:
•Firefighters •State Fire Marshal, chief deputy fire marshal and deputy state fire marshals •Police chiefs and police officers •Sheriffs and deputy sheriffs •County adult parole and probation officers •Correction officers •Investigators of the criminal justice division of the Department of Justice
Applicants must be Oregon residents, enrolled or planning to enroll as full time undergraduate students and determined by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission to have financial need.
