Bright Futures and Moving On offer a program of courses that enables students to also attend other classes that may be required for their educational goals at RCC (e.g. prerequisites and/or general education classes). Advising and educational planning are offered to all students as part of the program. Continued support through the program staff and success groups are offered during the program.
There are four core classes taught at Bright Futures and Moving On (9 credits).
Bright Futures classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Moving On classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
These classes will help students to build career plans, and enhance personal success.
Transitions I:
Build successful habits and tools for personal, educational and work success. Raise self-esteem as you develop positive attitudes. Enhance your skills in communication, assertiveness training, and goal setting to help you obtain what you want in life.
Transitions II:
Explore career and educational paths and options. Practice decision-making skills. Put goal setting into action by creating a personal career and education plan. Develop skills for continued growth in school, work and life.
Selected Career Topics:
Gain the foundation for successful career exploration and decision-making, including understanding the role of gender and socialization. Learn about living wage jobs while identifying transferable skills.
New Student Orientation to College:
Learn how to be a successful student, with a sampler of topics from learning styles to available college services; time management to financing your education.
