  1. Are counseling services confidential?
    The RCC Counseling Department follows the ethical and legal standards of the state of Oregon, which insures confidentiality except in the following situations:
    • You provide a written request to release information
    • There is an imminent danger to yourself or others
    • There is concern about child or elder abuse or neglect
    • A court orders a release of your records
  2. How do I know whether or not I need Counseling?
    We would like to encourage you to drop-in at one of the Student ACCESS Centers and to talk to a counselor. They can help you decide if you need counseling.
    The following questions may be helpful to consider:
    • Do you have intense feelings or depression that has lasted for 2 weeks or more?
    • Do you often experience feelings of anxiety or panic?
    • Do you have difficulty concentrating on assignments in class?
    • Do you feel that your usual coping strategies aren't working?
    • Do you recognize a pattern of behavior that creates personal and academic problems?
  3. Will my work with a counselor become part of my academic record?
