RCC's Students

Students come to Rogue for a variety of reasons. Most come to upgrade or learn new job skills, many come for the first steps toward earning higher academic degrees, and a large number enroll for personal enrichment and professional development.

This diversity of purpose creates an enthusiastic and challenging student body whose members are dedicated to fulfilling their individual educational and career goals.

By the end of the 2008-09 school year, 19,053 students had enrolled at RCC. That number represented the full-time equivalent (FTE) of 4,990.10 students. Based on regional population demographics, continued growth is expected.

RCC's Faculty and Staff

Rogue Community College employs approximately 320 permanent employees: 192 classified staff (155 full time, 30 part-time); 43 managers and 92 full-time faculty. In addition, the college employs approximately 616 part-time faculty.

Educational Offerings

As a comprehensive two-year community college, Rogue offers academic and career technical programs, courses for college transfer, basic skills programs for adults, personal enrichment, and continuing education courses.

The career technical programs lead to a certificate or Associate of Applied Science degree. These programs are designed for career entry at the conclusion of one or two years of study. Courses for professionals and technicians seeking continuing education for career advancement are available also.

Accreditation

RCC is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council on Post-secondary Accreditation and by the U.S. Department of Education. Accreditation was reaffirmed in 2005.

Being accredited enables the college to transfer credits to other approved institutions and also means students can receive grants and financial aid. The process is important in assuring that RCC is doing its job well and responding to the needs of students and the community. Courses and programs are approved by the Oregon Department of Education. Professional associations have accredited those career technical programs that require approval. RCC is approved as a veterans training institution by the Veterans Administration.

The college is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges, the Association of Community College Trustees, the Oregon Community College Association, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Information about RCC accreditation and licensing is available for review online and at the RCC libraries.
